Larkspur petals are thin as breath and just as quick to disappear. Pick them a day too late and they've already started to curl inward, giving up their shape before they've even been picked. So the flowers are gathered at their peak, laid flat, and pressed slowly, coaxed into staying open long after they've been cut from the stem. Only once they've fully given up their moisture can the setting begin.
From meadow to finished earring: the better part of a season.
The hardest part was keeping the blue. Larkspur fades fast under pressure and heat, drifting toward grey before you've even finished pressing it. Getting that colour to hold, and still read as blue once it's sealed, took more attempts than made it to the final batch. What you're looking at now is the version that kept its colour.
